About the Academy
The summer firefighter academy offered through the fire science program is an eight-week program with a paramilitary-style skills academy. Upon successful completion of the program, you will earn 12 credits towards your A.A.S. degree in fire science and will be eligible to test for Alaska Fire Fighter I certification. Application must be approved to enroll in the program. Application deadline: April 1, 2025

Academy Format & Delivery
The UAF CTC Summer Fire Academy is an in-person, paramilitary-style skills academy. In-person training will take place in Fairbanks from June 30-August 15, 2025.

In addition to submitting your application to attend the Summer Fire Academy, we encourage you to apply for employment with any of the fire departments that UAF CTC works in cooperation with to provide real world experience to students while they earn their degree.
