The information technology specialist program is designed to prepare you to implement, support, and troubleshoot computer and information technology systems. Individual courses of interest and professional development are also available through this program.
IT Specialist: Computing Technology (A.A.S.)
The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in information technology with a concentration in computing technology is a two-year program designed to prepare you for entry-level IT specialist positions requiring a broad base of knowledge and ability to support a variety of computer technologies.
General program coursework will provide you with a foundation in network support and administration, computer programming, server operating systems and computer/network security.
Working with a program advisor, you will select 21-22 credits of coursework based on your individual needs and goals for specific career preparation.
IT Specialist: Network and Cybersecurity (A.A.S.)
The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in information technology with a concentration in network and cybersecurity is a two-year program designed to prepare you for entry-level positions as an IT specialist with specialized skills to support and administer systems in a network environment, and with an emphasis on network administration and cybersecurity.
General program coursework will provide you with a foundation in network support and administration, computer programing, server operating systems and computer/network security.
Concentration specific coursework in Cisco Systems networking and cybersecurity will build upon your foundation with courses in local area network infrastructure, routers and routing concepts, wide area network services, cybersecurity defense/countermeasures, and network security penetration testing.
IT Specialist: Network and Systems Administration (A.A.S.)
The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in information technology with a concentration in network and systems administration is a two-year program designed to prepare you for entry-level positions as an IT specialist positions with specialized skills to support and administer systems in a network environment, and with an emphasis on Microsoft Windows server administration.
General program coursework will provide you with a foundation in network support and administration, computer programing, server operating systems, and computer/network security.
Concentration specific coursework in Cisco Systems networking and Microsoft Windows server administration will build upon your foundation with courses in local area network infrastructure, routers and routing concepts, wide area network services, system and network services and directory services administration.
Information Technology Specialist (Cert.)
The information technology specialist certificate is a one-year program designed to prepare you for entry-level IT support positions and can serve as a starting point for the A.A.S. degree program.
Program coursework will develop foundation knowledge and skills in supporting and troubleshooting computer systems, computer networking, server operating systems, and computer security.
Computer Support Specialist (O.E.)
The computer support specialist occupational endorsement provides education and training to develop the knowledge and skills to provide technical assistance to computer users and qualify for entry-level computer technical support positions. This program also serves as a stepping stone to the information technology specialist certificate and associate degree and the following industry certifications; CompTIA A+, CompTIA NET+, and CompTIA SEC+.
Cybersecurity Foundations (O.E.)
The occupational endorsement in cybersecurity foundations provides education and training to develop the knowledge and skills to implement security measures for computer and information systems and qualify for entry-level cybersecurity information technology positions. This program also serves as a stepping stone to the information technology specialist certificate and associate degree and the following industry certifications; CompTIA A+, CompTIA NET+, and CompTIA SEC+.
Computer Information Technology (Minor)
The information technology specialist minor is designed to provide you the opportunity to acquire foundation-level knowledge and skills in computer and information technology support.
This minor is a great choice for Bachelor of Arts degree-seeking students who need to satisfy their minor requirement or Associate of Arts students who want to explore information technology as an area of interest.
