Before You Register
Complete the steps within the section below that matches your degree status before completing registration processes to register online or in person.
Degree Student: Accepted into a Degree Program
Complete the following registration steps if the following apply to you:
- Your goal is to earn a certificate or degree.
- You want to be eligible for financial aid.
- You have been accepted into a degree program.
Degree students who have been accepted to a degree program may register for classes online after meeting with their advisor. Follow the steps below before registering online.
1. Print and review your registration request form.
- Go to UAOnline to print your registration request form. Select “Student Services & Account Information.” Select “Registration” and then “Check Your Registration Eligibility.”
2. Meet with your academic advisor.
- Meet with your academic advisor to discuss class options and complete your registration request form.

3. Turn in your registration request form.
- Submit your completed form to the CTC Student Services and Registration Center in person at 604 Barnette Street.
4. Register for classes online.
- Go to UAOnline to register for classes listed on your registration request form.

Degree Student: Waiting to be Accepted into a Degree Program
Complete the following registration steps if the following apply to you:
- Your goal is to earn a certificate or degree.
- You want to be eligible for financial aid.
- You have submitted an application, but have not yet been accepted to a degree program.
Degree students who have applied and are waiting to be accepted to a degree program may register for classes in-person after meeting with their advisor. Follow the steps below before registering in-person:
1. Meet with your academic advisor.
- Meet with your academic advisor to discuss class options and complete an In-Person Registration form.

2. Register for classes in person.
- Submit your completed form to the CTC Student Services and Registration Center in person at 604 Barnette Street.

Non-degree Student: Just Wanting to Take a Class
Complete the following registration steps if the following apply to you:
- You just want to take a class without applying to a degree program.
- Considerations that also apply to registering as a non-degree seeking student:
- You will not be eligible for financial aid.
- You will be subject to examination requirements for math, reading and English placement.
- You must maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain in good standing.
There are two options for non-degree students to register for classes: Online Registration or In-Person Registration.
Online Registration
Note: Skip steps 1 and 2 if you have registered as a non-degree student at any UAF campus within the last two years.
1. Submit a Non-degree Student Application.
- The application for non-degree seeking students is free and is normally processed within 24 hours to activate you for registration.

2. Establish your UA Username and Password.
- Once your non degree seeking application has been processed, establish your UA username and password will need to be established using ELMO.

3. Register for classes online.
- Go to UAOnline to register for classes listed on your registration request form.

In-Person Registration
1. Register for classes in person.
- Submit your completed form to the CTC Student Services and Registration Center in person at 604 Barnette Street.

High School Student – Just Wanting to Take a Class
Complete the registration steps below if the following apply to you:
- You are a qualified high school student who wants to take a class at UAF CTC.

1. Submit a Non-degree Student Application.
- The application for non-degree seeking students is free and is normally processed within 24 hours to activate you for registration.

2. Submit a UA K-12 Student Parent/Guardian Form.
- Online options:
UA K-12 Student Parent/Guardian Authorization (without UA login)
(parent/guardian will need a valid email address)UA K-12 Student Parent/Guardian Authorization (UA login)
(parent/guardian can log in with their UAOnline credentials) - Print option:
Download, print, and complete the UA K-12 Student Parent/Guardian Form. Submit your completed form to the CTC Student Services and Registration Center at 604 Barnette Street, Room 110.
3. Establish your UA Username and Password.
- Once your non-degree seeking application has been processed, establish your UA username and password will need to be established using ELMO.

4. Register for classes online.
- Go to UAOnline to register for classes listed on your registration request form.

How To Register
After completing the “Before You Register” steps outlined above, you will be able to complete your registration either online or in person.
Register Online
There are two options for registering online through UAOnline: the traditional online registration and the Schedule Planner. Schedule Planner lets you enter breaks during your day and gives you schedule options for courses.

Schedule Planner
(You must have cookies enabled in your browser to use Schedule Planner.)
1. At UAOnline, log on to the secured area using your UA username and password.
2. Select Student Services & Account Information, then Registration.
3. Select Schedule Planner then select the term and campus(es) you are interested in.
4. Choose your search terms. Click Add Course to add courses and Add Break to add times during the day that you do not wish to take classes, then click Generate Schedules. You can modify your search to include courses that are in wait-listed status by changing the Course Status option. You can also change your campus, term and course delivery options.
5. View your schedule options. Depending on your courses and breaks, there may be more than one schedule available. If no schedule is available, you may need to adjust your desired classes or break times.
6. Send to cart. Once you have selected a schedule, click Send to Cart. You will be redirected back to UAOnline. Choose Complete Registration Changes to register for your selected courses or Save Cart to return to it later. You can access your saved cart from the Registration menu at UAOnline.
Traditional Online Method
1. At UAOnline, log on to the secured area using your UA username and password.
2. Select Student Services & Account Information, then Registration.
3. Look up courses to add. On the Registration page, select Class Schedule Search. (You may also select Register/Add/Drop Classes and then Class Search.) In either case, be sure to choose the proper semester or term, and choose a UAF campus from the list of campuses. (A key for abbreviations, acronyms, etc., is available under Course Finder Definitions at www.uaf.edu/coursefinder/definitions.)
4. Add your classes. In the Add Classes Worksheet on the Register/Add/Drop Classes page, enter the course reference numbers (CRNs) of the classes you wish to take.
5. Review your schedule. After you select Complete Registration Changes, your current schedule will be displayed. Check class locations, times and dates to ensure that you registered for the sections you wanted.

Register In Person
- Download and complete the In-Person Registration Form.
- Submit your completed form to the CTC Student Services and Registration Center in person at 604 Barnette Street.
After You Register
After completing your registration, you will need to pay tuition and fees, get textbooks, and attend your classes.
Pay Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees can be paid immediately upon registration, but no later than the fee payment deadline.
Students are not considered fully registered for courses until all tuition and fees are paid or other payment arrangements have been made by the fee payment deadline.
How much do I owe?
You can view your account balance through your UAOnline account. In addition, an electronic bill will be generated and sent via email on or about the 15th of each month.
How do I pay?
Pay online: Pay with Visa/MasterCard/Discover/American Express/China Union Pay/Diners Club/JCB or electronic check on the web at UAOnline. Be sure to review your account status after payment is confirmed.
Pay by mail: Mail your full payment to arrive by 5 p.m. on the fee payment deadline. Payments received after this date will be assessed late fees. Make checks payable to UAF and mail to: University of Alaska Fairbanks, P.O. Box 757640, Fairbanks, AK 99775-7640. Credit and debit card payments are not accepted by mail.
Pay in person: See the schedule of dates and times. Credit and debit card payments are not accepted in person or by phone.
Please note: A 2.95% ($3.00 minimum) transaction fee will be applied to all credit and debit card transactions. If you are paying with a debit card or have a daily limit on your credit card, contact your bank to tell them you are paying university tuition and fees to ensure your card won’t be declined.

Buy Textbooks
You can browse and buy your textbooks by visiting the Text Bookstore located on the first floor of Constitution Hall or by visiting the website www.uaftext.com. In addition to new and used textbooks, many titles are now available for rent or as e-books to help save our students money. Please ask your bookstore associate for more information on these options.
Attend Classes
Attend classes beginning the first day of instruction. Note: you may be dropped if you do not attend the first class meeting without prior approval from your instructor.
