TVC StudentSince opening its doors in 1974, UAF’s Community and Technical College has been a leader in academic preparation, lifelong learning and developing a quality local workforce. With its community college mission, UAF Community and Technical College serves the needs of a diverse student population, including first-generation college attendees, both traditional and non-traditional students, military students and those seeking job training.

UAF Community and Technical College offers more than 40 one-year certificate and two-year associate degree programs in a variety of exciting fields. In addition, we offer a two-year associate of arts degree. This flexible liberal arts program can be designed for personal or professional development, and meets the academic requirements necessary to transfer into a four-year baccalaureate degree program. UAF Community & Technical College also offers specialized training programs in a number of high demand fields.

Our main campus center, one of eleven convenient locations, is located in the heart of downtown Fairbanks and offers students a “one stop” opportunity for all their educational needs, from academic advising and financial aid to computer labs and study lounges. Many classes are offered in the evenings or on the weekend to accommodate the needs of students with families and full-time jobs. Our full-time faculty members bring a wealth of education and experience to the classroom and have a deep commitment to seeing their students succeed. Our part-time faculty members offer a real-world approach to learning by teaching around their own careers in the workplaces students will soon be working in.

Our close relationship with industry and practical approach to teaching gives our students the tools they need to enter a successful career after graduation. Many of our programs boast a 100 percent success rate of students obtaining employment immediately after graduation. Some students find full-time employment even while going to school, continuing to work on their degree so they can advance further up the career ladder. Other students complete their degree at UAF Community & Technical College and move on to a four-year degree at UAF.
